The combination of geography (bowl-shape terrain that allows cold air to collect), sparse vegetation and a lack of towns nearby makes Embarrass one of the lower 48 states’ coldest spots.

I’ve always wondered about that! I assumed it had something to do with the fact that it was founded by Finns. As is well known, Finns attract coldness. Just look at my house or at Finland: both are very cold places.
