I liked Franken back in his early days, when his comedy was still daring. His evolution into the safe, corny Davis-less Franken kind of anticipates his new brief as a Hillary clone. With a little rewriting, the tiresome Stuart Smalley shtick sounds just like Democratic Leadership Council palaver.

I'm happy at least that Coleman is defeated. I still remember him creeping around a Greek church festival on Summit Avenue in the 90s, foisting his damp little palm on us; I had been out of the country for a few years, and thought he was an overfriendly waiter or chauffeur, or possibly just a pervert.
